Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 3.

The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce and Northwest Arkansas Emerging Leaders invite the community to join together in partnership with the region's seven sister cities -Fayetteville, Johnson, Springdale, Lowell, Rogers, Bentonville and Bella Vista -  to help with cleanup of all 40 miles of the Razorback Regional Greenway on Saturday, April 18 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

The inaugural Great Razorback Regional Greenway Cleanup is a family-friendly stewardship event, bringing the Northwest Arkansas community out to explore the Razorback Regional Greenway and help pick up litter along the 40-mile corridor. Businesses, nonprofits, families, friends and individuals will have the opportunity to work alongside each other in easy, one to two-mile paved segments, or “hubs.”

After the cleanup, in celebration of the community’s efforts, volunteers and the greater community will be invited to several Earth Day celebrations that will take place throughout Northwest Arkansas that afternoon (more details to be announced later). Earth Day proclamations are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on the 18th and will be read simultaneously across the region by the Mayors of the seven sister cities connected by the Razorback Regional Greenway.

To volunteer for this event, visit the Great Razorback Regional Greenway Cleanup Facebook Page. Information about city coordinators, cleanup "hubs" and contact information for meet-up and parking is provided. All cleanups start at 9:00 a.m. and will be wrapped up by 12:00 p.m.

In the spirit of Earth Day, this is a low-waste, low-impact event. Participants are encouraged to walk or bike to the cleanup and bring refillable water bottles. All cleanup supplies will be provided, and comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended.
