ElDorado Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 27.

Otto the Otter will teach Arkansas youth about littering, beautification efforts.

The Keep Arkansas Beautiful (KAB) Commission is adopting a new mascot focused on teaching Arkansas youth about litter.

The new mascot, Otto the Otter, is a native river otter to Arkansas and promotes keeping his home in its natural state through disposing of litter properly, recycling and participating in beautification efforts.

Otto will be traveling Arkansas in the KAB Otto-mobile to educate youth groups, elementary students and cleanup volunteers about the dangers and negative impacts of littering.

Over the past year, a cartoon version of Otto has been featured on billboards across the state, Little Rock Metro buses, youth activity books, bumper stickers and television public service announcements.

“We recognized that Arkansas needed a ‘hero’ for litter prevention to help our youth understand the negative impacts of litter, the importance of recycling and how they are crucial to keeping our state beautiful for future generations,” said Mark Camp KAB executive director. “With Otto’s help, it is our goal to instill upon this generation and future generations to not litter and they ‘otto’ get involved to keep Arkansas beautiful.”

Schools and groups who are interested in booking Otto the Otter to visit can contact KAB at 501-682-3507 or through email at info@keeparkansasbeautiful.com.
